Many people might be embarrassed to admit it but they just don’t get around to cleaning their toilet bowl as often as they should. You are not alone!
First off, if you clean your toilet on a regular basis it should not become such a tiresome unpleasant task. Each toilet in your home should typically be cleaned once a week. More frequently if a little one is potty training or if someone in the family is sick.
To clean the toilet bowl there are a number of cleaners on the market that will take care of most common toilet bowl
problems. Be sure to read and follow the directions carefully on these products as they are chemicals and may be hazardous if not used properly. Chlorine bleach can be used to clean toilets as well as to disinfect. Follow these cleaning products with a toilet bowl brush. Be sure to scrub the brush up under the rim and then as far down the trap as the brush can easily reach. Remove the brush from the toilet, flush and you are done with the bowl.
The bowl is just one part of the toilet and please do not forget to clean the exterior. You can spray the exterior with a disinfectant spray and then wipe it down with a paper towel or a damp cloth. Or you can purchase and use a disposable cleaning wipe to do the job. Start at the top of the tank, move down to the lid, the seat, under the seat, on the rim, and then down to the pedestal and floor surrounding the toilet.
If you are looking for a more green clean approach to cleaning your toilet you can pour vinegar into the toilet bowl and let it sit. Then use the toilet brush to scrub the bowl clean. If you have tough stains a paste of vinegar and baking soda can be used to scrub away the stains. The vinegar can also be used to clean the exterior and rim of the toilet.
